It didn’t take long for Leanna Christie and her husband Mark to decide Halifax Grammar would be the best fit for their son Sasha’s education. Enrolling him in the junior primary program at three years old, he’s now in his fourth year at the school attending grade one.
"We believe in academics and we believe Grammar provides that for our son. We’re also big believers in education and that it’s something no one can take away from you once you’ve got it."
Leanna is a member of the board and co-chair of the Parent’s Activities Committee (PAC). She’s an advocate of all aspects of the Grammar experience, whether it’s academic, arts or sports achievements.
"This is about a better environment, better teaching, better learning and better achievement."
She also appreciates the important role of the school network and how it contributes to improving the quality of life for all students.
"Independent schools are not supported by the government or anybody but the people who choose that particular school. We wanted to make a contribution that’s meaningful to Grammar and that will hopefully inspire other parents to donate. In the long term, it will benefit every child. This is about a better environment, better teaching, better learning and better achievement. I think that’s what Grammar is all about and that’s a powerful message."
